Hanging Out

Suitable for 11 to 13 year old children

Transitioning from primary school to secondary school can be a daunting experience for all children, but especially so for those who find social interaction with peers particularly challenging.

Hanging Out is a group for 11-13 year old children, with a focus on helping them to develop flexible thinking and behaviour in group dynamics through collaborative team work.

It is an ideal program for those children in upper primary school who are transitioning to secondary school and would benefit from increasing or strengthening the strategies and skills in their social interaction tool box.

The program will include:

  • 4 day program
  • 90 minute daily sessions
  • 15 minute parent coaching session each day
  • Individual goals for your child within the group activities
  • Facilitation by experienced Speech Pathologists with extensive training in social skills development

Pre-program assessments:

  • Children joining us at the Practice for the first time may require a pre-program assessment session of 60 minutes so that our Speech Pathologists can best understand your child’s needs.
